Understanding the Tracker
Everything you need to know to use the Forex Market Hours Tracker — from setting your time zone to reading the timeline and sound alerts.
Setting your time zone
Use the UTC offset selector at the top of the tracker to match your local time zone. The entire tracker — timeline bars, the current-time line, session cards, and all displayed hours — updates instantly to reflect your local time. Common offsets:
- London (winter) — UTC 0
- Central Europe (CET) — UTC +1
- Central Europe (summer / CEST) — UTC +2
- New York — UTC -5
- Bangkok / Chiang Mai — UTC +7
- Tokyo — UTC +9
Reading the timeline
The horizontal chart covers a full 24-hour day in your local time (00h to 24h). When you change the UTC offset, all session bars shift to show the correct opening and closing hours in your time zone. The thin gold vertical line marks your current local time, updating every second. Sessions that are open right now appear at full brightness; closed sessions are faded.

Status badges
The four badges at the top of the tracker show the live status of each market at a glance. A green badge means the market is open right now. A grey badge means it is closed. The badges update every second automatically.
Overlap periods — highest liquidity
When two or more markets are open at the same time, the note at the bottom of the tracker highlights the overlap. These windows offer the highest trading volume and tightest spreads. The UTC reference times are shown below — the tracker displays them in your local time automatically.

Sound alerts
The tracker plays a distinct sound every time a market opens or closes. You can enable or disable alerts using the checkbox in the alert bar, and preview both sounds at any time using the test buttons.
Opening sound
Two short ascending tones — bright, rising pitch. Signals new session starting and liquidity entering the market.
Closing sound
One descending tone — falling pitch, lower register. Signals a session ending and liquidity reducing.
Browsers require at least one interaction on the page before playing audio. Click any button once to activate sound — alerts will then fire automatically from that point on.
Alert log
Every alert — both automatic market events and manual test triggers — is recorded in the log below the session cards. Each entry shows the market name, event type (open or close), and the exact local time. The log keeps the last 10 events. Green entries = openings, red entries = closings.
